Meisce (pronounced 'Mesh-Kee-Yuh') has been together since October of 2002, combining elements of Irish folk, gypsy, Eastern European klezmer, and punk rock, among other influences.

We played our first show in 2003 at the Carnival Reverie in Seattle with Andrew Knaff on mandolin, Robert Hanna on guitar, Andy Kress on bass, Noah Birnel on Accordion, Kathy Barber on fiddle, and Ryan Amaya on drums. Kathy later left the band and was replaced by Tom Swafford, whom Andrew met busking at Pike Place Market. Stace Stoltz originally was to sing for Meisce but left before our first show, then our friend Pete Jay came on to do vocals after a few short tryout sessions. A few drunken years later Andy left to focus on his bands Skarp and Snuggle, and along came Nathan Diederichs to play bass soon afterward. In 2007 Tom relocated to Brooklyn, and we once again found a new fiddle player, Mitchell Johnson. We toured the West Coast in 2008, and look forward to the next time we can hit the road.

Members are currently involved in and have been involved in such projects as Wormwood, Inhaste, Slightly Less Than Nothing, Countdown to Armageddon, Castrati, Skarp, Snuggle, and Razed, among others.
